Language Arts in First Grade
The language arts curriculum is divided into the areas of reading, writing,spelling, and speaking. Our language arts time includes: sight word spelling units, direct phonics instruction, guided reading instruction, large group comprehension instruction, language/grammar instruction, and writer's workshop. Materials used include: Jolly Grammar phonics and language instruction, reading a-z.com, Scholastic Literacy Place basal series, Poetry unit, Core writing curriculum, Buggy for Sight Words.
